NS-3000 - Second-in-command stand speakers from Yamaha Featured

Written by

Yamaha launches a pair of standmount speakers that match the new amplifiers that were launched recently. The NS-3000 can be expected to have a far more room-friendly price tag than the flagship speakers NS-5000.

In 1974, Yamaha launched the legendary NS-1000 speakers, a pair of speakers that are on the wish list of every audiophile. In retrospect, this manufacturer has been working speakers by loads, but there was no replacement for the legendary monitors from 1974.

Not until just over a year ago. In connection with Yamaha's launch of flagship stereo, which was subsequently duly presented under High End in Munich just over a year ago, came the speakers NS-5000.

They had all three drivers made of 100% Zylon, which according to Yamaha is the world's strongest material for divers. They also had a three-way structure topped with a 12-inch in the bottom, the same as the NS-1000 had in its day.

Just a few days after Yamaha launched the three new integrated amplifiers A-S1200, A-S2200 and A-S3200 , a new speaker model also emerges. And it seems quite obvious that these have been launched to match the new amplifiers in price a little more than the flagship speakers NS-5000 does.

The NS-3000 speakers have incorporated many of the elements from the NS-5000, but have a much more compact format. They have retained a bass made in Zylon, but in the form of a 6.5-inch where the NS-5000 has a with a 12-inch in a three-way structure. The treble, on the other hand, is the same in the newcomer as in the NS-5000.

Resonance Supression chambers, or RS among friends, have also been continued from the top model. These must, as the name suggests, suppress unwanted resonance.

The speaker terminals seem to have the same exclusive brass design as the new amplifiers. And to make crossovers, Yamaha has gone to German Mundorf, one of the top suppliers in this sector.

Yamaha SPS-3000

Where the Yamaha NS-5000 had specially designed racks included in the form of an English-inspired recipe for laaarge standmount speakers, the kid brother has to go with a bit more conventional racks. But they are constructed for the NS-3000 speakers.

The SPS-3000 is made from a combination of MDF and rubberwood, an exotic wood that is supposed to be environmentally friendly. At the top is a 6mm thick metal plate, while there are vibration-dampening feet at the opposite end.

We do not yet know the price of NS-3000
