Yamaha with a new generation of budget stereo amplifiers

Written by

Yamaha launch three new models of integrated stereo amplifiers. And all three have a novelty as the common denominator.

Yamaha A-S301, A-S501 and A-S701 are all substitutes of predecessors with one number below in the name. But it is not only one's in the name of this new series that makes it a whole new generation, they also have an innovation that is common. Now it is nothing remarkable in the fact that the integrated stereo amplifiers have digital inputs and integrated DACs, but none of the models these substitutes had it. All three have both optical and coaxial digital input.

The smallest model in the series - the A-S301 has an amplifier that is claimed to provide 2x60W RMS into 8 ohms, while the A-S501 is rated at 2x85W. If we go up to the top model in this budget range, we get a benefit of 2x100W, in addition to a CD direct input that the other lacks. In return, you get both dedicated Phono input, and a subwoofer output on all three model.
