DA-10 - Denon with new DAC.

Written by

Denon launches new dac that is clearly targeting the smart phones. Read about Denon DA-10.

There is a short time since Denon released its previous DAC -   in February, we reported about the new USB Dacen Denon DA-300USB. Although Denon DA-10 shares a lot of DA-300USB`s functionality, it is obviously aiming it into the mobile part of the HeadFi market.

DA-10 footprint and form is very close to an iPhone, and is obviously particularly tuned towards being partner to iPhone, or other smart phones for that matter. An appealing partner for audiophile mobile users!

It has with its optional variable output capacity also as a complete headphone amplifier. In addition ther is adjustable gain. A clever detail that emphasizes the possible use pocket DA-10 will be exposed to, is the protruding wings that surrounds the volume control.

Like the DA-300USB, also DA-10 can stream DSD. The converter is a PCM 1795, a DAC with capacity of 32bits / 192kHz. As USB teh DAC jobs in the asyncrone mode, ensuring that the DA-10 has is the master of timing, and reduce the jitter of the one created internal on the local clock.

There is also an analog input, which allows it to also function as a headphone amplifier for analog sources. Denon suggests otherwise 8 hours of play time before recharging with this compact device that weighs 240g.

We do not know the price yet, but foreign estimates suggest somewhere between two and three thousand NOK when it appears on the European market in November or thereabout.
