Discovery II - new HighEnd standmount speakers from Wilson Benesch
Written by Karl Erik SyltheWilson Benesch launch a new speaker relieving the more than 10-year-old Discovery. Discovery II has a completely new design concept.

A good piece into the Northern part of England we find Wilson Benesch, in the Northern outskirts of the city of Sheffield. They have produced HiFi since 1989, and is most of all famous for their speakers, as well as turntables and tonearms.
The Standmount speaker Discovery was launched more than 10 years ago, and stood out from the crowd of standmount speakers by being a 3-way design. This also applies for the successor Discovery II, that is launched these days. Or perhaps it is more aaccurate to call it a 2½-way construction.

The most significant part of this construction is that it has an isobaric-contruksjon located on the underside of the chassis. This is a device with two drivers, and Wilson Benesch calls the Tactic II - Isobaric Drive System. Above this sits midrange / bass unit Tactic II and 25mm tweeter unit. Share frequencies are respectively 500 and 5,000 Hz.
The sensitivity of Discovery II is rated at 89dB, which is slightly above average for standmount speakers. On-axis frequency response is rated at 43 to 30,000 Hz +/- 3dB.
There is also a pretty unique solution for speaker terminals on Discovery II. And then I am not thinking of the fact that there are biwiring terminals - the unique part is that these are placed at the bottom of speaker stands.

Wilson Benesch is imported to Norway by Pilar Audio in Asker.
