3 new AV receivers from Marantz

Written by

Marantz has launched three new AV receivers in the lower part of their product range. We talk about NR1506, NR1606 and SR5010. Marantz is that of the Japanese giants who are recently out to reveal this year's news, and they start at the bottom end of the product hierarchy. Where we find two slimline recievers who have a moderate effect, but otherwise has a competitive equipment level.

Marantz NR1506

The smallest model NR1506 replaces NR1504, and is a 5.1 model. It has thus of natural causes not decoding of 3d audio formats. But the network department is more than up to date. WiFi and Bluetooth are in place - as is Spotify Connect and AirPlay. NR1506 is also compatible with streaming of DSD files.

Marantz has developed a new App in 2015, and this is compatible also with NR1506. There are separate versions for smartphones and for tablets, based on both iOS and Android.

6 HDMI including one in the front is more than ample for a receiver in this class. Reassuring that they are compatible with HDCP 2.2.

Somewhat atypical Marantz has favored the smallest receiver in the program with 2.1 pre-out. Good!

Marantz NR1506 provide 2x50 watt in 8 ohms in stereo.

Marantz NR1606

If you go up to the model Marantz NR1606, you get a 7-channel AV reciever. And Dolby Atmos is provided, in addition to that it is prepared for updating DTS: X when this new 3D format isavailable this autumn. We should not forget the new Dolby Surround decing, which provides an excellent upmix of source material in fewer channels to also have intelligent audio in the height channels.

Declared for NR1606 in stereo is also 2x50 watts into 8 ohms, and like the little man also this model offers 2.1 pre-out.

Marantz SR5010

Here we are up in full the full scale receivers from Marantz. SR5010 replaces SR5009, and also this has 7 channels. They are also favored with Dolby Atmos and DTS: X, while the possibility of upgrade to Auro-3D is reserved models with minimum 9 processor channels.

With SR5010 you get the more advanced room correction Audyssey MultEQ XT compared to the slimline models` somewhat more simple editions.

On SR5010 you get a full set of pre-out for all channels, and also analog 7.1 inputs are present - an otherwise somewhat dying breed.

The effect in stereo is here increased drastically, to 2x120 watts into 8 ohms (20-20000 Hz).

Marantz imported to Norway by Acoustics AS .
