WiMP with a new app for iOS.

Written by

Today the streaming service WiMP release a new app for iPhone and iPad. There are several areas of focus in this new app.

WiMP was almost a year ago the first streaming service that offers music in lossless quality. We thought that it would only go a short time before their main rival Spotify would follow suit, but it has not happened yet. Now Wimp set stakes in another field, and offers music videos in HD quality as of today will also be available on iOS devices.

They also have an updated playlist feature in the new app, where you can select music for different situations , such as relaxation, party, fitness, romance, concentration or dinner. If you dig deeper you can get even more customized music selections.

We like to choose our music itself can rejoice in an updated design that will provide better orientation. It is extended track details in relation to the previous app, and navigation will be easier on the new app.

WiMP presents new iOS design with video, personal profile and new playlist section on iPhone and iPad

Music service WiMP introduces a redesigned iOS client for all its users with iPhone and iPad. The fresh new design makes it even easier to navigate the giant music catalog of over 25 million songs and users can also enjoy music videos, a new playlist section and their personal profile in the service.

WiMP is the only service that provides pure CD-quality sound and video in HD-quality. Video is gradually being rolled out to the different clients, already available in Android and the new web player. From today, all iPhone and iPad users can also enjoy videos on artist pages in WiMP. Video play in full screen by flipping the phone or tablet horizontally.

"With WiMP on your iPhone or iPad, you get both the best sound and best picture, with HiFi audio and HD video. We want to offer more than the sound of music. We also provide live pictures, background information and stories while you listen. With editorial tips and integrated articles from our magazine, WiMP brings more to the music experience," said CEO of WiMP Music Andy Chen.

WiMP has licensed music content from all the major record companies and many small and have available a catalog of over 75,000 music videos.

The new iOS client also includes a new playlist section, launched with the new web player. The section is divided into moods and situations where you can select music for relaxation, party, workout, romance, concentration or dinner on the first level, or dive further down and find historical lists, seasonal lists, media lists, charts, guest lists and event-based lists.

”So far we see that our new playlists focusing on Relaxation and Party prove the most popular, while the workout category is also frequently used. Especially the popularity of listening to music tailored to resting and chilling out seem to be directly related to the season and vacation mode," says Sveinung Rindal, Global Editorial Manager for WiMP Music.

The iOS client also offers the opportunity to create a personal profile, add first name, last name and picture. It is now also possible to log in with your Facebook account instead of the WiMP user. Profile pages also showcase your music collection, both music stored as favorites and playlists that you have created are now together on one page.

Other snacks
- Extended track information showing who composed the music, wrote the lyrics, produced and performing musicians.
