Pioneer launches new universal player in the midrange. Pioneer BDP-180 replaces the BDP-170, and will include support for upscaling to 4k.

Pioneer has a long tradition of delivering interesting universal players. A year  ago they launched the two top class models BDP-LX58 and BDP-LX88, where especially the latter stands out as a contender for indictments Oppo BDP-105.

The newcomer BDP-180 belong a good leap further down the social ladder. However, with a weight of 5 kg it differs nevertheless clear from the field of Japanese budget players. Prices in Norway are not available yet, but based on European prices will end up somewhere between two and three thousand NOK, being estimated at 250 Euro.

WiFI Direct allows you to stream video from mobile devices without a router. And video from Youtube is transmitted via the function "send to TV"

BDP-180 is compatible with DLNA 1.5, and supports file formats DSD, WAW, FLAC and DivX + HD. Signals from DVD and Blu-ray can be upscaled to 4k.

Pioneer BDP-180 supports playback of SACD, making sure it fits in our exclusive list of universal players . It also has analog audio outputs, but only in stereo.

Pioneer has developed their own app called iControlAV5 for controlling including this BDP-180.
