Naim NAC-N 272 - New combined streamer and preamplifier from Salisbury.

Naim is getting very experienced within this segment, that consists of combined products with streaming. Not least the relatively compact Uniti Series has ensured this. But simultaneously Naim is most famous for their classic products with designs that stand out from the crowd in a far greater degree than they differ from each other internally.
The new NAC-N 272 will be launched at the annual HiFi show in Bristol, and now it is officially launched. And if we dissect the name a bit, it is revealed that this is a preamplifier (NAC), and that it is located a good distance up in Naim`s product hierarchy.
And as preamplifier this is in contrast to many other modern kombined preampifiers a pure analog preamplifier, with a digitally controlled analog volume control. Something for vinyl enthusiasts, who often dislike digital circuits being involved in the chain. Within proven Naim traditions, the NAC-N 272 is prepared for upgrade via a variety of external power supplies.
Naim NAC-N 272 has three analog inputs for connection to external analog audio sources. In addition, there are 6 conventional digital inputs, distributed as 3 optical- and 3 coax. In addition there is a USB connectivity and network contacts.
As streamer NAC-N 272 is compatible with UPnP, and has client for Spotify Connect. In addition, it can receive music via the bluetooth protocol aptX. The DAC inside NAC-N 272 takes pcm in resolution up to 24bit / 192kHz. In addition this is the first streamer / DAC from Naim that can take files in DSD format.
There is also an available extension, which contains a DAB and FM tuner. In England Naim NAC-N 272 is expected to reach the market in March 2015, for £3300. Or £3595 included the optional DAB-/FM module.
