RECORD NEWS: Songs from a stolen spring - Various Artists on KKV

Written by

KKV made a CD with a concept that provides strong associations to a high-profile release in 2003.

In 2003 KKV published the record Lullabies from the axis of evil. There were lullabies where both western singers and singers from the "axis of evil" alternated in the tone of lullabies from the countries that were designated by George Bush jr. There was a strong release that also was a political, and at that time caused reactions in the United States.

In Songs from a stolen spring it is also a concept that has political undertones in the beginning of a new form of war in Iran. But this album is hardly as controversial as Lullabies from the axis of evil , even though Songs from a stolen spring literally connects the United States and the Arab world. Here are the duets between Arab and American singers.

The title Songs from a stolen spring mirrors directly to the Arab Spring in 2011, which in a short time was stolen by Islamists.

There is a solid core of musicians on all the songs, consisting of Knut Reiersrud, Larry Campbell , Jørund Bøgeberg  and  Rune Arnesen. In addition, various musicians that varies on each track.

These duosperform the songs:
Blind Boys of Alabama - Eskenderella.
Terry Evans - Tania
Maria McKee - Massar Egbari
Soozie Tyrell - Rim Banna
Mighty Sam McClain - Ramy
Lisbeth Scott - Lobna Noom
Glenn Tilbrook - Dina El Wedidi
Ray Benson - Mounir Troudi

Songs from a stolen spring will be released 17.10.2014
