RECORD NEWS: Christianialiv - New Pure Audio Blu-ray from 2L
Written by Karl Erik Sylthe2L release new Pure Audio Blu-ray with music performed by The Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces , or Forsvarets Stabsmusikkorps as it is called in Norwegian.
Christianialiv is a release of music from the Norwegian "Golden Age" in the late 19th century, with music composed by Johan Svendsen, Adolf Hansen, Ole Olsen and Alfred Evensen.
This is one of many releases from 2L recorded in Jar Church, and it is particularly corps recordings tend to be recorded here. The release is otherwise a double disc release, with both a Blu-ray disc and a SACD. It is superfluous to mention that both Blu-ray and SACD comes with both stereo and multichannel tracks. Total playing time exceeds the general maximum playing time of the CD. Therefore, two of the tracks on Blu-ray Disc are omitted on the SACD disc.
The illustrated form of orchestra and microphones reveals a slightly conservative geometry in the 2L-scale, since the orchestra barely fills half circle. Ranked in common terms, it is however a fairly aggressive mix.
Release set for October 2014.
