Dolby Atmos White Paper

Written by

After the audience have lived in the dark when it comes to some technical details in connection with Dolby Atmos, Dolby Labs now give us a couple of White Papers.

It has ruled some confusion related to the details of Dolby Atmos. This is particularly specifications for height speakers. Dolby Labs has announced two White Papers relating to Dolby Atmos. One is general, and the name White Paper for the Home Theater and is dated August 2014 The second is called Dolby Atmos Enabled Speaker Technology .

Somewhat surprisingly Dolby argues here that Dolby Enabled Speakers in some cases are preferable to ceiling mounted speakers for the height channels. Dolby has not provided detailed specifications for when ceiling mounted speakers will not work optimally, but suggests that it will happen at too low ceiling heights.

If you want to immerse yourself in Dolby Atmos, you are advised to read these White Papers from Dolby Labs:
