Marantz HD-DAC1 - new DAC and headphone amplifier with obvious retro elements
Written by Karl Erik SyltheMarantz launch a new combined DAC and headphone amplifier. The name is HD-DAC1.

It is quite large stream of products in the upper HeadFi segment. And a feature common to a large proportion of these is that they also have a built-in DAC, with very amenaties.
In Marantz's case we are talking about a CS439824bit / 192kHz DA-converter, which also takes DSD files in 2.8 and 5.6 MHz. The DAC is also an asynchronous USB DAC. This ensures that unnecessary jitter from source will be excluded. And when Marantz in addition, measures to reduce internal jitter, it should be fine.
It is also both fixed and variable RCA outputs, allowing HD-DAC in addition to being a headphone amplifier, also can be used both as a digital preamplifier, and as pure DAC.
As a headphone amplifier HD-DAC1 is capable to drive headphones up to 600 Ohms.
