Cambridge Audio G5 - new flagship wireless speaker

Written by

Cambridge Audio has launched a new streaming speaker. G5 is the largest and best model in this category from Cambridge Audio.

Cambridge Audio has eventually also a great CV when it comes to wireless speakers. Last fall, we reported about the new model G2, and now they have launched a new flagship model.

G5 stands out from the crowd. among other things by having an elegant and exclusive exterior in metal and leather, in a cabinet which is otherwise braced to provide good sound even when played loud.

Bluetooth is supported via formats aptX and AAC, and battery life is claimed to be as much as 14 hours when playing loud.

Cambridge G5 - Premium sound, build and battery life

Portable Bluetooth Speaker sets a new standard

Cambridge Audio, London based sound experts, will seek to introduce new standards for audio performance, build quality and battery life to the premium Bluetooth speaker market with the introduction of the new G5 wireless speaker – available now, online and instore, priced at £229.

Standing out from the crowd with an elegant metal and leather exterior, superbsound quality and amazing battery life, the G5 is set to continue the successful line-up of portable Cambridge speakers.

Having received the same attention to detail and first class audio engineering skills normally reserved for Cambridge’s high-end audiophile products, the G5 produces an impressive audio performance with a clear treble and bass detail not normally found in Bluetooth speakers.

The build quality and design of the G5 is also exceptional, the premium leather and metal exterior exudes class, whilst superb sound quality is made possible by the acoustically designed cabinet. The use of a special stiff and inert composite material, extensive internal bracing and each driver mounted in its own dedicated sealed compartment ensures a rattle free, crystal clear performance even at high volumes.

The convenience and high audio quality of Bluetooth (apt-X and AAC) means wherever your music is stored or played from, it will be streamed to the G5 in amazing detail. Whether using your phone or tablet, from apps or streaming services such as BBC iPlayer or Spotify, you can enjoy your music wirelessly and with beautiful musicality and quality.

Despite having a relatively compact and slim cabinet (121mm X 270mm x 55mm HxWxD) the G5 manages to feature 2 x 30mm high quality mid/high drivers and a dedicated 60mm subwoofer plus two passive auxiliary bass radiators to deliver massive power from the smallest possible footprint with an expansive, clear, deep and room filling sound. Sound quality further benefits from Cambridge’s approach to volume control, where rather than simply cutting signal and creating ‘pumping’ or compression artefacts, the G5 has a different EQ setting for each and every volume step.

Already famed for the exceptional battery life of the Go series of speakers, Cambridge has ensured that the G5 also breaks new ground. In fact Cambridge is almost alone as a manufacturer in creating a standard process to ensure the accurate, consistent and fair measurement of battery performance.

The G5 battery will last for 14 hours at the higher ‘Party’ Level (73db @ 1M) and well over 20 hours at the more normal ‘ambient’ level (70db) from a single battery charge. You can also charge your portable devices (phones, tablets etc.) via the G5 using the convenient USB port on the back of the product – great for outdoor environments where charging facilities are limited.

The G5 is also extremely easy to use, thanks to NFC one-touch pairing, speakerphone functionality and second speaker pairing for an even larger sound.

Available in champagne and white leather or gun metal and black leather, the G5 will beautifully fit into any environment, outside or inside, wherever you wish to take your music.
