Burson Conductor Virtuoso - upgraded multitalented preamplifier from Burson

Burson launch Conductor Virtuoso. This is a combined USB DAC, headphone amplifier and preamplifier.

We got acquainted with its predecessor Burson Conductor for a year ago, during an event by the Norwegian importer MOIZ Audio in cooperation with the dealer Renaissance Audio in Bergen. Along with a duality of power amplifiers Burson Timekeeper, which we have an upcoming review of, made it a very good figure in front of a set Von Schweikert VR-44. The only thing that made us a bit skeptical, was that Conductor had no remote.

 

This limitation is eliminated in the follow-up model Burson Conductor Virtuoso. A compact remote control in cast aluminum supplied. But it is not only the upgrade - the volume control is now a 100-step click-stop attenuator.

 

New is also that you can choose between a ESS9018 SABRE32 DAC or PCM1793 DAC in the integrated DAC module. The former variant has price which is approximately 400 Euro higher than the version with Burr Brown. It is also possible to upgrade to another DAC in retrospect.
