A-S801 - a new integrated amplifier from Yamaha.

A month ago we reported about the three new integrated amplifiers A-S301, A-S501 and A-S701 . And earlier this year, the youngest A-S201 has been launched. Thus, we should believe that there was room for more models in this segment, but we were wrong. For at the IFA Yamaha revealed another model.
Yamaha A-S801 has very much in common with its smaller brother, the A-S701. But what separates these is that while the A-S701 with its smaller siblings had the innovation digital inputs, the A-S801 additionally boasts that it has a USB input. In addition to being a USB DAC, it is also able to play DSD in 2.8 and 5.6 MHZ, and PCM up 32bits / 384kHz. In other words, a heavily reinforced DAC sitting in the A-S801 compared to A-S701.
Other specifications of the A S801 seem to be identical with A-S701, which means a power of 2x100 watts into 8 ohms. We do not know the price of the A-S801 in Norway yet, but based on USA prices it is reasonable to assume that it will be one small grand (NOK) above the A-701.
