Clearaudio Concept in active version Featured
Written by Karl Erik SyltheClearaudio launches Consept Active. This is an old acquaintance that now comes with greatly expanded functionality.
The turntable Concept is a well known model from the German producer Clearaudio. It has a distinctive design with sincerely clean lines and rounded corners, and they eventually come in several colors. Now Clearaudio has decided that they should launch a version with greatly enhanced functionality. This is a dominant trend in today's market, although Clearaudio has probably taken this a step further than most producers of turntables.
Clearaudio Concept Active
Concept Active is available in the same color variants as the passive version. That is, 4 different cabinet colors and materials.
But of course that's not the most interesting aspect of Clearaudio Active. Here, Clearaudio has obviously had the ambition to create an all-in-one vinyl playback machine, where you basically only need to supply a couple of active speakers, at least if you believe vinyl is all you need as sound source.
To achieve this, of course, there must be a RIAA stage onboard. And this may of course be turned off if you still want to use the player in a more traditional setup.
Furthermore, there is a headphone amplifier in Concept Active. And according to the manufacturer, it should be suitable for high-quality headphones as well as for connecting to active speakers. Level is then controlled by the volume control of the turntable.
The RIAA stage has selector for MM or MC, and you may also choose between MM and MC pickup pre-assembled on Concept Active.
Also when it comes to arm you have a choice. Either Clearaudio's supposedly frictionless arm with magnetic support or an aluminum arm Satisfy Kardan can be selected.
