And apropos Korona, in the introduction, we got an account of how the Korona crisis had changed the purchasing channels over the last few months. It was not the doubling of online sales from 15% in week 11 to 30% in week 16 that surprised. The surprise is that in week 19 the proportion was back down to 19% again.
Since LG is the Object her, it is inevitable that the OLED series is the one of most interest. And it is also the OLED series that we pay most attention to in this article, eve though many of the News also apply to the other series as well.
Alpha 9 Gen 3 AI processor
But it is not the panel that is where the news is stated. LG's OLED panels are used by many other TV providers. What LG highlights is the processor, and this year it is the Alpha 9 Gen 3 AI processor. This processor is available in all model series except BX, the most affordable OLED series. As an 8k variant in the top models in the ZX, and 4k in the rest.
Artificial Intelligence - AI
Artificial intelligence - or AI - is the essence of many of the innovations in processor technology in both TVs and mobile phone cameras. And in the Alpha 9 processor, it seems that AI is dominant. It goes back to image adaptations, automatic genre selection, which in a few seconds automatically switches the image mode to what is displayed on the screen, AI Brightness, Face recognition, Text reconition - in short most of the news in the processor.
Dolby Vision IQ
Dolby VIsion IQ is a further development of standard Dolby Vision and is based on the metadata of a Dolby Vision signal being compared with light measurements in TVs that record the light level in the room where the TV is located. These are combined to create the correct light level on the TV screen at all times. Dolby Vision IQ is backward compatible on the source side, but not for the TV.
Dolby Vision IQ was a news advertised at CES in 2020, and LG and Panasonic were the first to adopt this news.
All the new TVs in the OLED and Nanocell collections support Dolby Vision IQ. The same goes for the top models in the UHD Collection

Filmmaker Mode
In addition to Dolby Vision IQ, Filmmaker Mode was also introduced at CED in 2020. This is a mode that ensures that the film is shown to the greatest extent possible "the way it was intended to be seen". Any unnecessary processing is turned off if it can interfere with the intended view.
All OLED models and most models in the NanoCell series support both Filmmaker Mode and Dolby Atmos. The latter is of course only relevant if the sound is to pass through the TV.
LG ThinQ AI
Smart House technology is also integrated into the larger models, and LG has developed its own ThinQ system. On all OLEDs you will find a ThinQ Home Dashboard and hands-free voice control. The same goes for the more inexpensive NanoCell models, while you have to give up voice control in the lower segment.

OLED series
There are six main models in the OLED collection, and these have different sizes of panel sizes.
The most expensive and exclusive TV from LG is the roll-away TV OLED65RX9LA, with a price tag of 719,990, -.
The top models are otherwise the ZX series , and consist of the 8k models with OLED panel. Here, of course, the big screens of 77 and 88 inches are paying off, and prices are on par with a new compact car.
The most expensive 4k models are the WX Series Wallpapers . They are jam thin, hence the name. The 65-inch costs approx. sixty thousand, while doubling for the 77-inch.
Gallery Design gets you into the more moderately priced GX series , though these are about as slim. They are glued to the wall and build only 2cm. All connections must therefore be made before the TV is hung, and when switched on it must also be turned down and up again. The GX series has three sizes - 77, 65 and 55 inches.
The predecessors of the CX series have probably been a kind of OLED for the people from LG. A popular series that has had words for being at the ideal crossing point where you get a lot of OLED for your money. This year, this series replacing the C9 (and yes, the CX is really the C10) has been expanded by a 48-inch. During the presentation, LG`s Erik Svalberg believed that this could be particularly interesting as a gaming model.
And at the bottom of the rank ladder we have the BX series , where the predecessors have being breathing the larger C-models in the neck.
2020 Sound Bar Lineup
LG is also presenting the Soundbar collection for 2020. It has a total of 9 models, 6 of which support Dolby Atoms and DTS: X. Meridian Advanced Sound technologies are also supported on these 6 top models.
The flagship of the soundbars is SM11RG. This kit constitutes a 7.1.4 system, with separate subwoofer and whirring sound speakers. It's Dolby Atmos / DTS: X upfiring front & rear.
We wrote about some of these models earlier this year.
