Completely wireless earbuds have exploded over the last 2-3 years. It started with Apple's Airpods, and B&O was among the first to follow up with their Beoplay 8, which we tested here .

JBL Live 300TWS

JBL is also involved in this drive, and currently has a total of 8 models of completely wireless ear plugs, distributed on different concepts. The latest addition is JBL Live 300TWS. This was pre-launched at IFA in Berlin on September 5, and is now available for sale.

The ear plugs have a charging time of 2 hours from empty. Then they can play for 6 hours, and via the case you can refuel with 14 hours of playing time. Communication with the audio source is done using Bluetooth 5.0, which will ensure good and stable connection. And should you come in contact with humid surroundings, an IPX5 certification ensures that this should go very well.

Voice control is in place in Live 300TWS, and both Alexa and Google Assist are supported. JBL has also included Ambient Aware and TalkThru on these models. Ambient Aware allows you to get in touch with your surroundings, while TalkThru opens up a bit more and allows you to have a conversation even if you keep your ear plugs in. These functions are controlled by pressing the left plug.

JBL Tune 220TWS

We also bring another news that came earlier this year. The Tune 220TWS are ear plugs of the same concept as Apple Airpods, and like the Huawei FreeBuds 3 that we tested earlier this spring. This concept has its followers and has obvious advantages and disadvantages compared to ear plugs that you insert into the ear canal. The benefits often go to comfort and easy "mounting", but disadvantages can be poor bass response compared to well-fitted earplugs with plugs, and that they can easily fall out. I have now been using FreeBuds 3 for two and a half months without experiencing any mishaps.

We know nothing about comfort and bass response on the Tune 220 TWS, but JBL feature the JBL Pure Bass. And at the very moderate price, this is an obviously interesting alternative.

Like the Live 300TWS, they have Bluetooth 5.0 and voice assistant. The playing time is somewhat limited, with 3 hours. In contrast, it has 19 hours of refilling via the case.
