Downloading music from the web is becoming more widespread. B&W Music Club has chosen an unusual approach to this issue.

At B&W Music Club members are offered a new album for download each month. After month's expiration the album is no longer available, but you will have the opportunity to download a new album. A very unusual solution, but maybe not a bad one. It is tempting to assume that the limited time each album is available is a prerequisite for the low price.

What we really appreciate is that we are now also offered to download high-resolution audio. 24bits/48kHz the display of my Linn Akurate DS reports during playback of any track from this month's album, The Afrobilly Sessions of Justin Adams & Juldeh Camera. We get crisp and dynamic performances of compelling music that can be safely placed in the neighborhood of World Music.

Playback of short samples from previous month's albums hint towards music in various categories and of high quality, although it is not always very established artists performing.

Subscriptions of B&W Music Club is about. 34UKP for 12 months / 12 albums. This equals to around 30NKR for an album in HiRes format! 24UKP is the price if you only want to commit for 6 months. In addition, you can get 3 month free trial subscription with download of a limited selection of tracks from the album of the month.

B&W Music Club is definitely not the option for people aiming to vacuum-clean the net for top40-music. But for us who appreciate good music in the company of particularly good sound quality, it may be interesting watching the future of B&W Music Club.
