AONIC 50 & 215 - new wireless series from Shure Featured
Written by Karl Erik SyltheShure introduce a range of wireless models. Initially, AONIC comes as the noise canceling headphones AONIC 50, and the wireless and noise isolating earplugs AONIC 215
Wireless Shure AONIC
The wireless series AONIC from Shure has the descriptive subtitle For those who make music. And everyone who moves to it . Thus, they have also effectively described who is the ultimate target audience for this series. Adam Levine is one of the people profiling the new series, and he has been making music with Shure on stage and in the studio for more than a decade.
Shureplus Play
Shureplus Play Mobile Listening App is an iOS and Android app that can play uncompressed files on your mobile device. It has an advanced EQ that has presets to customize the sound, or that allows you to customize the sound with your own presets.
AONIC 50
The AONIC 50 is a set of wireless and noise canceling headphones. They are basically completely wireless, although they can also be operated via a cable with 3.5mm mini jack connection. In wireless mode, audio transmission is via Bluetooth 5, and it supports the aptX ™, aptX ™ HD, aptX ™ Low Latency audio codecs, Sony LDAC, AAC, and SBC.
In the Shureplus Play app, it is possible to adjust the noise cancellation, and also to enable and adjust the Environment mode, which gives you an insight into what is happening outside your bubble.
The battery life is promised up to 20 hours, and charging takes place via USB-C.
Shure emphasizes the comfort of use for the AONIC 50, and here we just have to trust them. Quite moderate weight and a headband that seems to have thick padding on the underside is a good starting point. The headphones can be folded to fit in the enclosed case.

AONIC 215

Perhaps even more interesting than the AONIC 50, are the wireless earbuds AONIC 215. At first glance, the concept has great similarities to both Powerbeats 3, which we tested just over a year ago , and the subsequent Powerbeats 4. Not to mention the completely wireless Powerbeats Pro. And despite the fact that the design is rather different, it's the robust design to hold the earbuds in place "when the going gets tuff" that provides clear similarities at concept level. Both the Powerbeats models and the AONIC 215 are designed to stay in Your ears even during extreme activity.
But where AONIC really separates from Powerbeats is in the smart modular structure. Pinpoitedn we may basically say that a set of AONIC 215 consists of two components - a set of Shure True Wireless Secure Fit Adapter, and a pair of SE215 sound-insulating ear plugs. These two components Shure have assembled for the set AONIC 215.
And the observant reader has probably already guessed that these can be upgraded without having to waste your entire investment. The kit with the Shure True Wireless Secure Fit Adapter can be taken over to a few more inexpensive editions of Shure's soundproof earplugs. From the most moderate upgrades to the SE425, or via SE535 to the top model 846 with a guide. price of well over ten thousand NOK.
Although AONIC 215 does not have active noise cancellation, they obviously have such effective passive noise reduction that Shure has found it appropriate to equip these with Environment Mode to allow them to monitor the environment without removing the ear plugs.
The modular structure also allows these, with a handle, to be "rebuilt" to be wired models, should this be desired.
