ZoneMaster Model 1250 - new 12-channel power amp from Parasound

Written by

Parasound Introduce the power amplifier Zone Master Model 1250. Parasound even proclaim it as a gamechanger.

Having become accustomed to the logic behind Parasound`s product names, it is easy to see just by the name that this is an unusual product. That is to say - if it wasn`t for the ZoneMaster-part, we could easily become drewn to assume that it must be a 250 watt mono block . So there is thus a 12-channel power amplifier that delivers 50 watts per. channel. Or 160, if you are bridging.

There are many things with the Zone Master makes it obvious that this is a product that is attuned to the Custom Install - otherwise a segment that Parasound is familir with. 12 channels are not normal in a mainstream HiFi setup. And in addition there are many details that confirm this segment, where speaker terminals and advanced 12-V trigger configurations stand out.

But Parasound emphasizes that the home theater segment is an interesting market for ZoneMaster Model 1250. Three bridged front channels, which gives 160 watts each still provides room for 6x50 watts for the remaining channels. And with the upcoming Atmos trend it could be handy to have additional power step up its sleeve for height channels.

Parasound Debuts Game Changing 12-Channel Power Amp

DENVER - CEDIA EXPO 2014 -- Parasound has introduced the

ZoneMaster Model 1250, a versatile, efficient 12-channel power amplifier with great sound quality, high power, and multiple configuration modes, served in a versatile 2U rack-mount form factor that addresses the many needs of industry professionals.

"The ZoneMaster Model 1250 is a game changer in a category populated by mediocre generic IC amplifiers," said company president, Richard Schram.

"The Class AB input stage and premium Class D power stage generate

performance consistent with Parasound's heritage. It is as useful for

distributed audio as it is for home theater, where it could augment an AV

receiver with 3x160 plus 4x50 watts."

Connections for 24 speakers combined with 2-ohm stability allow the use of two speakers per channel. It is rated at 12x50 watts into 8 ohms, and 12x90 into 4 ohms. Each channel pair can be bridged to deliver 6x160 watts into 8 ohms and 6x200 watts into 4 ohms RMS, all channels driven.

There are independent line inputs and level controls for each channel. There are two Bus inputs with looping outputs, plus a speaker-level input that can be routed to any zone. There are independent 12-volt and audio triggers with looping trigger outputs for each zone, and a global 12-volt trigger.

Detachable Phoenix-style speaker connectors accept up to 12-gauge wire. The Model 1250 offers exceptionally "green" power consumption with 0.5 watt standby power consumption to meet Energy Star and European Union specifications.

The Parasound ZoneMaster Model 1250 will be available in October with a $2,495 MSRP.
