The new series Revolution XT from Tannoy take with them a staple from the old series - the trapezoidal basic structure. But still it is very much new in Revolution XT. There are brand new speaker elements, which of course brings with them Tannoy`s Dual Concentric concept. There are handmade crossovers with selected components. Also cabinets are handmade, and are available with oak or walnut veneer.
A completely new feature of the two floor standing models Revolution XT 6F and XT 8F is that they have two chambers with a new iternt port system between the chambers. The Bass port is placed in the bottom, between the cabinet and an integrated base, making sure the speakers are more location friendly .
Dual Concentric concept has been further developed with something Tannoy call Omnimagnet, which implies that there is a common magnet for tweeter and midrange drivers.
Tannoy Revolution XT has 5 different models. With two floor standing, two different rack models and a center speaker there is a rich variety for a complete multi-channel setup. Top model Revolution XT 8F as its name suggests an 8-inch DC element, in addition to an 8 inch woofer, while XT 6F has similar elements as 6-inches. Prices in England are respectively about 1300 and 1000 UKP.
The biggest standmount speaker in the series - XT 6 - has like the floorstanding models an integrated base. It has the same Dual Concentric element as the floor model XT 6F, but lacks the latter's dedicated woofer. Price in England is around 600 UKP.
Revolution XT Mini has a four-inch DC element, and rolls off the bass around 68Hz. That makes it tempting to assume that it will appreciate help from a subwoofer.
Four-inch drivers we also find in the center speaker Revolution XT C, but here aSC-unit is assisted by two four-inch bass drivers.
