When Chord Electronics launched the ULTIMA amplifiers during the Autumn 2018, this was the first brand new construction from Chords Electronics for a rather long time. The launch consisted of a dual mono preamp named Chord ULTIMA PRE, and Chord ULTIMA mono Blocks measuring 780 watts in 8 ohms. Pretty cool stuff, with a correspondingly heavy price tag. You'll need around 1.2 mill NOK for a complete set of PRE and 2 ULTIMA monoblocks.

In 2019 the series was expanded with two new monoblocks. ULTIMA 2 was a slightly scaled down version of the flagship. But the downscaling was no more drastic than we are still at 750 watts in 8 ohms. ULTIMA 2 replaced SPM 6000 MKII

The somewhat smaller ULTIMA 3 also came in 2019, and is at "only" 450 watts in 8 ohms. This model replaced the SPM 1400 MkII.

Chord ULTIMA 5

Now Chord Electronics has announced that they are launching the circuit topology of the ULTIMA amplifiers into stereo configurations. ULTIMA 5 replaces SPM 1200 MkII. This amplifier provides 2x300 w in 8 ohms and is equipped with a total of 64 MOSFET output transistors. The cabinet is made of aluminum and has a 28mm thick front panel. It should be able to resist  a massive attack. On the back side we find both balanced and RCA inputs

Chord ULTIMA 6

The ULTIMA Series smallest incarnation is the new ULTIMA 6. A stereo power amplifier of 2x180 watts in 8 ohms will also do the trick for most people. This model replaces the SPM 1050 MK II, and has 32 MOSFET output transistors onboard. We find the same exclusive cabinet design as on the ULTIMA 5 also on this model. The same applies to inputs in the form of XLR and RCA.
