We have seen some interesting effects in the form of backyard concerts and other creative stunts in order to be able to practice art, although coronary restrictions impose severe restrictions. But we haven't seen the New York Youth Symphony variant before. They play Mahler's first symphony even though each musician stay at home. An online symphony orchestra is not a daily experience, and you would think that timing is a problem, but this has obviously been solved by NYYS. The video was edited by NYYS violinist Raina Tung , who also has her 18th birthday today, March 27th.

Formed in 1963, the New York Youth Symphony consists of musicians ranging in age from 12 to 22 from the New York region. All NYYS activity is being transformed into online activity this spring, and judging by the video, they will cope better than most.
